Biography
Arista Short holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education, K-12 from Messiah University with a concentration in saxophone. While there, Arista had the opportunity to study classical and jazz saxophone with Todd Goranson. In addition to her major applied studies, Arista continued her jazz studies with Kirk Reese and studied conducting with James Colonna.

Arista's passion for music, teaching, and the outdoors began at a young age. She grew up in Marion Center, PA where she frequently went fishing, hiking, and kayaking. While living there, she was able to play in many professional settings including jazz festivals, pit orchestras for musicals, and community bands at IUP. She currently resides in Colorado with her husband and two cats.

Her biggest goal is to make a lasting impact by guiding students to become the best version of themselves while giving them a creative outlet and safe space to be themselves.
